About the Program

Master program: All the master programs have a schooling system of 2 or 3 years full-time study. The programs are delivered in Chinese or English.

Doctor Program: The full-time PhD program has a schooling system of 3 years. All the programs are delivered in Chinese or English.

After completing all the credits and thesis defense successfully, the students will be awarded the graduation certificate as well as the diploma.

The recruitment of international students is through the way of Application & Interview, which means the excellent applicants who pass the documents review will take part in the interview held by respective schools.

Scholarships

SWUPL offers students different types of scholarships according to the applicant’s eligibility and academic qualifications. And there will be annual review for each kind of scholarship candidates. If fails to pass the annual review, the corresponding scholarship of that year will be suspended.

Application Requirements

1. The applicant should be a foreigner with a valid passport;

2. The applicant should have a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree before enrollment;
3. For English taught programs, the applicant should have IELTS score (6 or above)/ TOFEL score (80 or above), or have HSK5/6 certificate.Those whose mother tongue or official language is English, or those who obtain a bachelor diploma with English as the instruction medium are not required to provide English proficiency certificate, but they should pass the language test in interview;

For Chinese taught programs, master program applicants should have HSK 5 certificate and doctoral program applicants should have HSK6 certificate. Those whose previous study was in Chinese language, if they are temporarily unable to take the test due to the pandemic, must pass the language test in interview.

4. The applicant should be healthy physically and psychologically, and with good virtue.

If you apply for CSC scholarship of High Level Postgraduate Program, you must register to apply before February 20, 2023 on both application systems: http://202.202.80.210:8088/#/ and https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/.

2. Application and Admission
STEP 1: Register your account and activate it
STEP 2: Fill out the application and upload all required documents as follows:
A personal formal electronic photo
Copy of passport (the photo page)
The notarized final diploma. Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. (If it is not in English or Chinese, please submit the Notarized English or Chinese translation)

Physical examination record (within latest 6 months) It must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Admission

The applicants who pass the preliminary review will be notified to join the interview either off line or on line. The comprehensive interview includes professional basic theory and practice, language ability and so on with a full score of 100.

The admission will be based on the candidates' application materials and interview results. Those whose score does not reach 60 points in the interview will not be admitted.

The admission letter and visa application form will be sent by the School of International Education. The enrollment time will be written on the admission letter.

(According to relevant national regulations, admitted candidates need to hold the X visa issued by a foreign visa authority to complete the admission procedures.)

About SWUPL

Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) is located in Chongqing, a famous historical and cultural city and the only municipality in the central and western regions. It is the earliest institution of higher politics and law established in New China. As a university jointly built by Ministry of Education and Chongqing Government, SWUPL is the first batch of legal talents training bases with the qualification of cultivating international students under Chinese government scholarships.

Now it has a large number of international exchange and cooperation programs with more than 180 partner universities from over 40 countries, such as U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Thailand, and South Korea and so on. There are two Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs, including the undergraduate law program at Coventry University in the United Kingdom and the Master of Laws Program at Case Western Reserve University in the United States. It is the only university in the western region that undertakes dual-degree programs for Chinese-foreign cooperative education in academic disciplines.
