Application Guide for Chinese University Program under Chinese Government Scholarship

I.Introduction

Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program is a full scholarship set up by China’s Ministry of Education to support prestigious Chinese universities to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China.

Applicants apply through the official application system of China Scholarship Council http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ by choosing "Type B", entering the agency number of SWUPL, 10652 to apply.

Funding categories: master students and doctoral students.

 

II.Scholarship Eligibility

Scholarship applicants must,

        1. be a citizen of a country other than P. R. China, and be in good health;

        2. not be sponsored by any other kind of scholarship;

        3. be a bachelor's degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs, or be a master's degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

 

III.Scholarship Coverage& Criteria

1. The scholarship covers tuition, internship, accommodation on campus, and comprehensive medical insurance.

2. Monthly living allowance

        1) Master students (general visiting students): CNY 3,000 Yuan

        2) Doctoral students (senior visiting students): CNY 3,500 Yuan

V. Application Documents 

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (Download from CSC Online Application System);

2. Copy of Passport Home Page: Applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the ordinary passport with validity later than March 1st, 2023.

3. Notarized highest diploma;Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English); Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

5. A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English);This should be a minimum of 1000 words, and doctoral applicants’ proposal shall be signed by professors of SWUPL.

6. Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English); Recommendation letters should describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth and signed by professors or associate professors.

7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form, (written in English, it can be downloaded here http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org); The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

8. The copy of Pre-admission Letter from SWUPL;

9. Language proficiency certificate. For English taught programs, the applicant should have IELTS score (6 or above)/ TOFEL score (80 or above).Those whose mother tongue or official language is English, or those who obtain a bachelor diploma with English as the instruction medium are not required to provide English proficiency certificate, but they must pass the language test in interview;

For Chinese taught programs, master program applicants should have HSK 5 certificate and doctoral program applicants should have HSK6 certificate. Those whose previous study was taught in Chinese language, must pass the language test in interview.

10.  A CV (certificate of work or internship, award, publications can be attached, if any)

11. Non-Criminal Record Certificate (in English). The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non- Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority within the latest 6 months.

 

VI. Application and Admission Procedures 

1.An applicant shall Log in CSC Online Application System before April 5th,2022 (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) to complete the application.

2.An applicant shall log in the International Student Online Service System of SWUPL (http://202.202.80.210:8088/#/) before April 5th,2022 to complete the application.

3.SWUPL will review all the application documents, select candidates and send the pre-admission letter by email;

4.The candidates shall log in CSC Online Application System again (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) before April 24th, 2022 to upload the pre-admission letter issued by SWUPL;

5.CSC will review qualifications and application documents of candidates nominated by SWUPL , and decide the final list of scholarship winners;

6.SWUPL will inform and send the admission documents (Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to scholarship recipients.
